Farewell Uganda
This experience is forever a part of our story, a huge chapter in our lives and especially the lives of our children. It is where Isaiah started kindergarten, Awa finished elementary school, and Leila spent her middle school years. Where we met so many kind and generous people and made dear, lifelong friends. Where we had the opportunity to explore the vast beauty of the country and also witnessed trued poverty. Where we were introduced to boda bodas and matooke. Where life slowed down for a bit and then all of sudden seemed almost too busy again. Uganda is full of life, spirit and resilience... it's impossible not to carry some of that with us as we prepare to depart. So many memories were made here, and while it wasn't always easy, we are leaving with full hearts.
In two weeks we are heading off to our next big adventure in Madagascar. Just as it was when we arrived in Uganda, we have no idea what our future holds there. It's sort of strange to move your whole life to a place you've never been before, even though this isn't our first time doing so. The unknown can be as daunting as it is exciting. But if you think about it, life is full of unknowns. We should endeavor to welcome it just as we expect it, take a step toward it with the understanding that little is in our control other than the way we respond to and embrace it. As Tony Robbins stated, “The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably deal with.” I believe that our lives are much richer because we are willing to take risks and stay at the edge of our comfort zone. It may not always be easy, but it is definitely worth it!Just a few photos of our time in Uganda
